“My doctor wanted to start dialysis, but I wanted to give Hartland a chance.”
“When I came here, I was really sick,” says Angelita Ancheta. “But after three days, I already felt a difference!”
Angelita came to Hartland Lifestyle Education Center with kidney failure. The doctors had told her, “You need to do dialysis immediately.” However, knowing the risk involved with dialysis, she wanted to find an alternative. After hearing the testimony of another health guest who has experienced lasting results from his stay at Hartland, Angelita decided that this would be a wise investment.
“When I came, I was always tired and cold. Just going up and down the stairs made me tired. But now I feel good! I have energy to do my housework!”
Because she doesn’t like the cold, Angelita tended to stay inside most of the time. But this just made her circulation sluggish, so she was still cold! However, at Hartland, Angelita was encouraged to go for a brisk walk every morning with her therapist and participate in a group exercise session with the other health guests. After one of these exercise sessions, Angelita exclaimed, “This is the first time I’ve sweat in two years!”
Now, seven months later, she is continuing the exercises she learned at Hartland. She says, “If it is cold outside, I just do the exercises inside—running in place, bending, stretching—just as I did at Hartland.”
Angelita’s husband, Antonio, came to Hartland Lifestyle Education Center with his wife, but he didn’t want to join the lifestyle session at first. However, after reading an article in the Hartland Ministry Report about Dr. Sanidad, he changed his mind. “I wanted to make sure that I was healthy,” he said. “It was not easy to come here all the way from British Columbia, Canada. But it was worth it. The program was very helpful to me, because I learned how to maintain my health with a new lifestyle.”
Antonio and Angelita used to eat a lot of meat, especially pork. But after one of the nurses explained how the meat’s waste products (especially nitrates) destroy the kidneys, they decided to cut it out of their diet. “We have to change our lifestyle,” they resolved. “We have to eat more vegetables and fruits. It’s going to be very different now.” Praise the Lord, Antonio and Angelita are still meat-free today!
At the end of the session, Antonio said, “By the grace of the Lord, we saw our health improve in the eighteen days we spent at Hartland Lifestyle Education Center, and we are happy.” He nodded in agreement as Angelita added, “I’m going to share this; I have to spread the good news to my friends!”
